Introduction

A historic moment. Never before in the history of India the Prime Minister had chosen to inaugurate a small school with an initial strength of only 25 students representing the entire Himalayan spectrum of India from Manipur to Ladakh. Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee said to the ideator of the school Mr. Tarun Vijay, “ The school is small but the idea is big - very big. I am supporting it and I will inaugurate it.”

He fulfilled his promise on 28th January, 2004 when his chopper landed at the ITITI school grounds welcomed by the then Governor of the state Shri Sudarshan Agarwal, Chief Minister Shri ND Tiwari, Union Minister for Highways Maj. Gen. (Retd.) BC Khanduri, the then Chief Minister of Arunanchal Pradesh Shri Gegang Apang, and many other luminaries.

An unprecedented Inauguration

“A significant step for social harmony and national integration. I am sure that ITITI, the unique school for tribal children, will produce such students who will be educationally empowered and will lead India towards a new technological era. I congratulate the trustees of ITITI for a new vision in the field of tribal education.” - The former Indian Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee
